DAYTON 63, SAINT LOUIS 62

Postgame quotes from UD's Jimmy Binnie, Marcus Johnson and coach Brian Gregory

March 12, 2008

Recap |  Box Score

Dayton Head Coach Brian Gregory
On his team's toughness:
"We did some things at the end of the game that we have to definitely do a better job of, but our guys kind of just grinded it out and gritted it out. Over the last couple of week, we've really shown a lot more toughness and a determination to figure out ways to win games."

On Brian Roberts having a quiet game::
"Brian didn't really force anything, maybe could have been a little more aggressive on some of those...the one thing it proves again is that we're a much better team. A month ago, two months ago, if Brian Roberts scored five points, we didn't have a chance to win the game."

On the late-game defense of London Warren: :
"He's been doing that all year for us. He's a tremendous defensive player, probably doesn't get the credit he deserves. They have the ball at the end of the game with an All-League player in [Kevin] Lisch and one of the best players in the league in [Tommie] Liddell and they don't get a clean shot off on either one of those possessions. London set the tone on both of those with his ball pressure...our defense saved us. Our half-court defense today saved us."

On the NCAA Tournament::
"All those numbers, I'm not smart enough to figure that stuff out. The one thing I do know is we have an opportunity to play tomorrow, and that's really what we're concentrating on. We [have to] control the things we can control. I won't be in that room with the Selection Committee. I will be at the game tomorrow at noon, that's what we can control, so that's what we're going to focus on."

Marcus Johnson
Regarding his play in overtime::
"In the second half I wasn't aggressive as I was the first half. I just had to be more aggressive in this overtime - I got some key rebounds and made some big shots. That's all I was trying to do was help my team win.

Thoughts before overtime::
"Basically, just telling each other to keep fighting. We've been in this situation many times and it's nothing new, so keep fighting and play Dayton basketball."

Jimmy Binnie
Talking about Saint Louis' press in the second half::
"I don't think it was anything we weren't use to seeing. I think we just made some bad decisions and we weren't really smart about who we were throwing it into and we had timeouts we weren't using, so it's just poor decision making."

Regarding the Saint Louis comeback::
"Like coach, I'm proud of my teammates and the way they fought and the intensity they played with their last overtime. We just got the win."
