University of Dayton senior guard Brian Roberts has been selected to play in the 56th annual Portsmouth Invitational Tournament. The tournament, which runs April 9-12 in Portsmouth, Virginia, is the nation's oldest amateur basketball tournament.

Roberts led the UD men to a 23-11 record. The Flyers started out 14-1 and were ranked as high as 14th until injuries derailed the season. Team eventually re-invented itself and played its way back onto the bubble, and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NIT. A constant was Roberts who led Dayton in scoring (18.4), three-pointers (100-220, .455), free throws (111-129, .860) and minutes (34.7).

Roberts ended his career in the UD Top Ten in 10 statistical categories, including #1 in three-pointers made (293) and 3-pt. FG% (.441, 293-665). He was a three-time All-Atlantic 10 selection, and was a finalist for the Wooden, Naismith, Cousy and Lowes Senior CLASS Awards.

Nine student-athletes from the Atlantic 10 Conference are among 64 seniors who will participate in P.I.T. Joining Roberts are Fordham's Bryant Dunston, Massachusetts' Gary Forbes, Rhode Island's Parfait Bitee, Saint Joseph's Pat Calathes, Temple's Mark Tyndale and Xavier's Stanley Burrell, Josh Duncan and Drew Lavender.

Roberts' teammates in Portsmouth will be South Alabama's Demetric Bennett, North Carolina State's Gavin Grant, UC-Santa Barbara's Alex Harris, Miami (FL)'s Anthony King, New Orleans' Bo McCalebb, Mississippi State's Charles Rhodes and George Mason's Will Thomas.

The Portsmouth Invitational Tournament is recognized by NBA and European scouts as the premier showcase for future professional players. The P.I.T. is the only tournament for college seniors to participate in and be evaluated by the National Basketball Association prior to the NBA's pre-draft camp in Orlando.
