In one of the rarest scheduling quirks in recent years both the Dayton Flyers men's and women's golf teams will participate in the same tournament event.

The Flyers will play in the Butler Spring Invitational on March 23 and 24 from the Prestwick Country Club in Avon, Ind. This tournament will be the second spring event of the season for both teams.

In the women's first tournament, junior Katie Dempsey turned in a Top 10 performance at the 2009 Savannah College of Art and Design Invitational to lead the University of Dayton women's golf team to a fifth place finish in its first spring tournament at the Wilmington Island Club.

The Flyers turned in a team score of 667 for the two-day tournament posting a 341 on the second day, after firing a 326 on the first day. Freshman Clara Ang (81-86) and junior Katie Gallagher (82-85) both shot 167s to finish tied for 18th place for the Flyers.

On the men's side, the Flyers came up just short in a dual meet versus Florida Atlantic losing 314-311. Sophomore Chris Woeste led the Flyers with a 76, while fellow sophomores Jeff Hodapp and Zach Glassman were close behind each recording a 79.
