UD MEN'S GOLF HEADS TO LEXINGTON FOR THE UK INVITATIONAL

For the second consecutive season, the Dayton Flyers will compete in the University of Kentucky Invitational on April 11-12. The 54-hole tournament will take place on the Big Blue Course in Lexington, Ky. This will be the second consecutive season the Flyers will have played at the UK Invitational. Last year Dayton finished in 14th out of 18 squads. Battling another mid-30s temperatures and strong winds throughout the tournament, the Flyers rebounded from a 322 in day one to tally a 317 in round two and a 309 in the third round. Dayton is coming off a performance where senior Mitch Custenborder fired rounds of 77 and 73 to help UD to a third-place finish at the Ohio State Quadrangular. Custenborder's 73 was his best score since the the 2007 Atlantic 10 Men's Golf Championship. This will be the fifth spring event of the season for Dayton. Thus far the Flyers average 313 strokes per round during the spring. Senior Rob Chappell leads the Flyer attack with a 75.5 stroke average. Not far behind is sophomore Chris Woeste who has a streak of five consecutive rounds below an 80. |
