PHILADELPHIA - Sophomore Alex Torda earned a First Team All-Atlantic 10 selection, while senior Zac Gibbens was selected as a member of the Honorable Mention team in a vote conducted by the league's head coaches.

"I'm really pleased for Alex Torda," head coach Dennis Currier said. "He's been our best all-around player for the year offensively. I felt Zac Gibbens belonged on there and we're really excited for them."

Torda has been the Flyers' top scorer for most of the 2007 season. He leads the team in goals with six, assists with five and points with 17. From the midfield position, Torda ranks tied for 10th in the A-10 in points per game at 0.89 and tied for eighth in goals per game.

"It says a lot about him and his work ethic over the course of the year," Currier said. "It shows what hard work can get you and he's taken tremendous strides in his growth to be a first team member as a sophomore. If you look at the list it is all juniors and seniors, so it's great for him to be on there."

Gibbens has been among the Atlantic 10 leaders in victories, goals against average and save percentage. The Loveland, Colo. native is 10-4-4 with a 0.90 goals against average and a .785 save percentage with six shutouts in 2007. Among Atlantic 10 goalies, Gibbens is one of four goalkeepers who have played every minute in net for his team.

"Zac has been a guy who has stepped up in a leadership role toward the end of the season and helped us tremendously getting to the A-10 tournament," said Currier. "When you get a goalkeeper on there, it says a lot about our defense and how they played all year. Zac last year was a little inconsistent and we talked about consistency in the spring and that's what we he about this year."

Last season the Flyers had only one all-conference selection with Ryan Handbury earning a spot on the Honorable Mention team.

The Dayton Flyers will play the Massachusetts Minutemen on Thursday in the first round of the 2007 Atlantic 10 Men's Soccer Championship at Baujan Field. Game time begins at 8 p.m. ET.

At home, Dayton went unbeaten in 2007 with a 7-0-2 mark. The winner of the Thursday's game will face either No. 1 seed Saint Louis or No. 2 seed Rhode Island on Friday. The conference champion will gain an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Fans can follow the game on Gametracker and there will be a free live video broadcast at www.atlantic10.org.
