DAYTON, Ohio - University of Dayton senior Florian DeCamps and juniors Alex Torda and Ryan Handbury were selected to the 2008 NSCAA/adidas® Division I Mid-Atlantic All-Region Men's Soccer Teams. DeCamps clenched a First Team spot, Torda was named to the Second Team and Handbury was a Third Team selection.

DeCamps received much recognition for his skill and hard work this season. He was selected to the Atlantic 10 Fall Sports Honor Roll on Sept. 22 as well as being named to the A-10 Men's Soccer All-Conference First Team. DeCamps led the Flyers in game-winning goals with five and was tied for first in assists with five this season. In addition, he was named MVP of the Atlantic 10 Men's Soccer Championship.

"Florian had a breakout season in 2008 and played a tremendous role in our run to the A-10 Championship," said Dayton's head coach Dennis Currier.

Torda, a 2008 Hermann Trophy Watch candidate, led the Flyers in goals scored with 10 this season, and was tied with DeCamps for points with 23. Torda was named a Second Team selection to the 2008 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America® Men's Soccer Team as well as A-10 Player of the week for Oct. 27 and Oct. 13. The junior midfielder was named to the 2008 Atlantic 10 Men's Soccer All-Conference Second Team. In addition, Torda was named to the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference Team.

"Alex has been our best attacking player for the past two years," said Currier. "He has incredible balance and a work rate that is unmatched."

Starting every game this season, Handbury is the ring leader of Dayton's defense. As a major cog of the back four, Handbury had a crucial part in helping the Flyers post eight shutouts on the season. At one point in 2008, the Flyers did not allow a goal in more than 370 minutes of action. In 17 of their 22 games this season the UD defense allowed its opponents just one goal or less. He repeats as a Third Team selection, also earning the honor last season.

"Ryan is our leader in the back. He has great organization abilities and has led our team in the most minutes played the past three years," said Currier.

In his four seasons at UD, Currier has produced eight all-region selections.

"I want to congratulate Alex, Florian, and Ryan on their achievements. All three of these student-athletes are well-deserving of their award," said Currier. "They each played a significant role in our extremely successful campaign this season."

Dayton finished the 2008 campaign 15-4-3 overall with an Atlantic 10 Championship and a bid to the 2008 NCAA Men's Soccer Championship for the first time in UD men's soccer history.
