DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton's Jack Pearson was recognized on the College Soccer News 2008 All-Freshman Men's Soccer Teams. Pearson, a 6-foot-3 defender for the Flyers, was a Third Team all-American selection.

Pearson, a native of Coventry, England, helped lead the Flyers to their first-ever NCAA Men's Soccer Championship berth and their first Atlantic 10 Tournament Championship since 1998. Dayton posted a school-best 15 wins, en route to its 15-4-3 overall record which was the ninth best winning percentage in NCAA Division men's soccer in 2008.

Pearson, an Atlantic 10 All-Rookie selection, is a central back on the Dayton defense that racked up eight shutouts on the season and in 17 of its 22 games allowed one goal or less. During a stretch of A-10 play the Flyer defense shut out its opponents for more than 455 minutes of action.

In addition to his stellar defense, Pearson was integral on set pieces for Dayton, scoring four goals, including three game-winners. He was named to the Dayton Flyer Marriott Invitational all-tournament team and ended the season with nine points.
