Results

The Dayton men's tennis team defeated Youngstown State 6-1 on Friday at Dayton Center Courts for its fourth consecutive victory. The Flyers evened their record at 6-6 this spring, and have won all four contests on their current five-match homestand. Freshman Bryce Warnock and sophomore Matt Sherman each won their fourth straight singles match with a win on Friday.

Dayton has defeated its opponents by a combined score of 19-2 in its last three matches.

Against YSU, Dayton captured the doubles point by winning two of the three matches. Sherman and senior James O'Connell defeated Zach Landgraf and Diego Cerzosimo at No. 2 doubles, 8-2. At No. 3, junior Antonio Rodriguez and freshman Michael Koscielski downed Maurice Rucker and Christopher Leson, 8-4.

In singles, Sherman won his team-leading seventh match this spring with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Cerzosimo at No. 3. Sherman followed the lead of O'Connell, who won his match at No. 2 in a super tiebreak, 3-6, 7-6(1), 10-5.

The bottom of the UD singles lineup dominated YSU. Rodriguez picked up an uncontested win at No. 4 by defeating Rucker 6-1, 6-0. Peyton was victorious at No. 5, 6-2, 6-0, over Leson. Warnock- last week's Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week- posted a perfect 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 against Landgraf.

Dayton closes out its homestand on Saturday, March 1 at Dayton Center Courts against A-10 foe Saint Louis at 3:30.
