FLYERS FINISH HOMESTAND UNDEFEATED WITH 5-2 WIN OVER SLU

The men's tennis team made it five wins in a row with a 5-2 victory over Atlantic 10 opponent Saint Louis on Saturday at Dayton Center Courts. The Flyers improved to 7-6 on the season and finished unbeaten on their five match homestand. Sophomore Matt Sherman and freshman Bryce Warnock each extended their singles win streak to five matches. With the win, UD climbed over the .500 mark for the first time since starting the spring 2-1. The Flyers opened the match by winning the doubles point. Sophomore Michael Rohana and junior David Peyton paired up for an 8-5 win over Felipe Acosta and Paul Feder at No. 1 doubles. At No. 2, senior James O'Connell and Sherman posted an 8-4 victory over P.J. Hendrie and Sean McManus. Dayton also won four singles matches, all in straight sets. Rohana anchored the UD lineup with a 6-3, 7-5 victory at No. 1 over Acosta. O'Connell followed suit with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Hendrie at No. 2. Sherman continued his winning ways at No. 3 singles by defeating McManus 7-6(4), 6-4. Warnock improved to 6-4 this spring with his 7-5, 6-4 victory at No. 6 over Feder. The Flyers will hit the road for a match against A-10 rival Xavier on Tuesday, March 4 at 1 p.m. ET in Cincinnati, Ohio. |
