DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton's women's basketball team defeated Saint Joseph's 84-57 in the team's final game of the regular season on senior day Sunday at UD Arena. With the win Dayton moved to 18-12 and 7-7 in the Atlantic 10 and secured the eighth seed in the 2009 Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Championship.

Dayton will play ninth-seeded Saint Louis on Friday in the first round of the conference tournament. Game time is scheduled for 12 p.m. ET.

Dayton featured a well balanced attack with five players scoring in double-digits. Justine Raterman led all scorers with 16 points and seven rebounds. Kendel Ross tallied 15 points, and Ashley Brown scored a career-high 12 points. De'Sarae Chambers and Casey Nance both added 11 points in the Flyer win.

A well-balanced offense has been key for Dayton's success this season. This was the third game this season the Flyers had five players in double-digits, and it was the sixth game that at least nine players scored in a game.

Dayton outplayed Saint Joseph's in all aspect of the game, out-shooting their opponents 46-36 percent from the field, 46-32 percent from beyond the arc, and 91-85 percent from the free-throw line. The Flyers also out-rebounded the Hawks 45-30.

Saint Joseph's was led by Katie Kuester with 14 points and Ashley Logue who added 11 points. Dayton held SJU's offensive leader Brittany Ford to just four points. Ford has averaged 13 points a game this season.

The Flyers came out strong and Raterman and Ross each scored eight points in the half leading a 10 minute, 21-4 Dayton run. The Flyers led by as many as 16 in the opening frame before entering the break with a 36-22 lead.

Dayton continued its strong play in the second half, while building on the lead and the Hawks were unable to get closer than 14 points.

The A-10 Women's Basketball Championship will be held at Halton Arena on the campus of Charlotte March 6-9. Check back at www.daytonflyers.com later this evening for more information regarding the tournament seeding.
