Dayton freshman Justine Raterman led all scorers with 24 points in an 85-55 win on Tuesday over the Loyola Chicago Ramblers at UD Arena. Four others scored double figures for UD as the Flyers improved to 9-4 overall.

Raterman scored in double figures for the ninth time this season as she threatened her career high of 27 points.

Freshman Casey Nance posted her second double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Classmate De'Sarae Chambers added a career-high 16 points, while Kayla Moses tied a career-high with 11.

Sophomore Kristin Daugherty chipped in 12 points.

Defensively, Dayton held Loyola to just 32.8 percent shooting (19-of-58). The Flyers also outrebounded the Ramblers 57-24, resulting in a 23-3 advantage in second chance points.

The Flyers set the tone early with outside shooting. Chambers started the scoring with a three-pointer to get Dayton on the board first.

Two minutes later, Raterman connected from downtown as UD grabbed an early 8-0 lead. One possession after making another three, Raterman was fouled while trying her third three-point attempt. Three foul shots gave Dayton a 14-3 lead 4:30 into the contest.

Loyola held Raterman scoreless over the next 9:30 and pulled to within three points, 26-23. However, Raterman scored a basket inside to stop Loyola's comeback with 6:04 remaining.

Raterman had 14 points at halftime to lead all scorers as Dayton finished on a 12-6 run to lead 38-29 at the break.

The Flyers continued to feed the versatile Raterman inside to begin the second half. She converted a lay-up on a lob pass from Patrice Lalor and was fouled on the play. Her successful free throw gave UD the early momentum.

Sophomore Kristin Daugherty scored five early points in the half and helped the Flyers extend their lead to 60-40 with 11:00 remaining.

The Flyers held this lead with both Raterman and Daugherty on the bench for a four-minute stretch. When they checked back in, Dayton went back inside to Raterman whose lay-up made it 68-45 with 7:00 remaining.

Solid defense down the stretch helped Dayton cruise to the 85-55 victory.

After Christmas, the Flyers will return to action to host the Dayton Flyer Classic on Sunday, Dec. 28 and Monday, Dec. 29. Dayton's first opponent will be Lipscomb, with tip-off scheduled for 3 p.m. EST on Sunday, Dec. 28 at UD Arena.
