Directions to Xavier | Recap of Feb. 14 Meeting - Dayton 44, Xavier 43
Dayton women's basketball looks to snap a two-game skid with a trip to the Queen City for a rematch with Atlantic 10 rival Xavier on Wednesday. The Flyers and Musketeers will renew the "Battle of I-75" at 7 p.m. ET in a game that can be followed with Gametracker and Live Audio (1610 Information Radio) at www.DaytonFlyers.com. UD secured the first 20-win season in its modern history with a 44-43 victory over XU on Feb. 14 in Dayton. The win also marked the first time Dayton had defeated the Musketeers in 10 tries dating back to Jan. 7, 2003. After trailing by five at halftime, Dayton used a 16-2 run at the beginning of the second half to turn the tides. The Flyers held Xavier to 28 percent shooting on the night, while UD shot 36 percent from the floor, including 12-of-26 in the second half. Freshman Kristin Daugherty scored 11 of her team-high 13 points in the second half to lead the Flyers to the comeback victory while seniors Karah Cloxton and Brittany Holterman tallied 10 points each. Dayton enters the contest tied for fourth in the Atlantic 10 Conference standings and still has a chance to secure a first-round bye in the A-10 Championships if it wins its final two remaining games and Charlotte drops one of its final two contests to either Fordham or Richmond. The complete 12-team A-10 Championship bracket will be announced at the conclusion of play on Saturday evening. The Flyers will close out the 2007-2008 regular season and honor a group of eight seniors (seven players and one manager) on "Senior Day" Saturday against Saint Louis. UD and SLU will tip off at Noon ET following Senior Day ceremonies that can be followed on www.DaytonFlyers.com. |
