FLYERS EARN EIGHTH SEED IN 2009 ATLANTIC 10 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
March 1, 2009 DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton women's basketball team will face Saint Louis in the Opening Round of the 2009 Atlantic 10 Championship in Charlotte Friday, March 6 at 12 p.m. ET. The Flyers will enter as the eighth seed after compiling a 7-7 record in conference play and an 18-12 record overall. It is Dayton's second-straight winning season. The Flyers' first opponent in Atlantic 10 Championship play will be the ninth-seeded Saint Louis Billikens, which UD defeated earlier in the year. The Flyers overcame Saint Louis on the road, 73-68 on Jan. 10. The winner of the Dayton/Saint Louis Opening Round match-up will face No. 1 seed Xavier in the A-10 Quarterfinals on Saturday, March 7 at 12 p.m. ET. Dayton closed out the regular season with an 84-57 victory over Saint Joseph's on Senior Day at UD Arena Sunday. The Flyers were well balanced offensively as five players scored in double-digits including Justine Raterman (16 points), Kendel Ross (15 points), Ashley Brown (12 points), De'Sarae Chambers (11 points), and Casey Nance (11 points).
