DAYTON TAKES ON INDIANA IN WNIT SECOND ROUND
March 20, 2009 2009 WNIT Bracket | Gametracker | Buy Tickets DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton women's basketball team will make its first ever appearance in the second round of the Women's National Invitation Tournament when the team takes on Indiana. The Flyers and Hoosiers will tip-off Sunday, March 22 at 2 p.m. ET. Follow the action with Gametracker at www.DaytonFlyers.com or with live audio at www.IUHoosiers.com. The Flyers advanced to the second round after knocking off Oakland on Thursday, 70-55 in the first round. It was Dayton's first postseason win since turning Division I. The Flyers were led by sophomore Kristin Daugherty who scored a game-high 19 points. Freshman Justine Raterman tallied the ninth double-double of her career with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Junior Kendel Ross also grabbed 10 boards and finished the game with seven points, four assists, and four steals. Dayton moved to 21-13 on the season with the win. SCOUTING INDIANA Senior Amber Jackson leads Indiana with 13.0 points per game, while junior Jamie Braun is on her heels with 12.4 points per contest. Senior Whitney Thomas leads IU on the boards with 8.7 rebounds per game and classmate Kim Roberson, Indiana's all-time steals leader, leads the Hoosiers' defensive attack with 2.8 steals per game. Indiana is coached by Felisha Legette-Jack is in her third year at the helm of the Hoosier program with a career mark of 110-102 over seven seasons.
