POULIQUEN HELPS FLYERS FINISH ROUND ONE IN NINTH AT THE CAA CHAMPIONSHIP

PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga. - Led by a first round 79 from sophomore Julie Pouliquen, the Dayton Flyers completed round one in ninth at the 2009 Colonial Athletic Association Women's Golf Championship. Pouliquen finished nine strokes over par after recording nine pars and a birdie on the day. This is the second time in her Flyer career that Pouliquen has shot below an 80 at the CAA Championship. Pouliquen is also tied for 18th overall among individuals. Not far behind was freshman Clara Ang who carded an 81 after round one. She opened the tournament with a birdie and collected nine pars as well after that. Junior Katie Gallagher added an 85 after round one. This is the third consecutive CAA Championship for the Olmstead Falls, Ohio native. Another UD golfer who is making her third appearance as well, Katie Dempsey, finished with an 87 after round one. Also finishing with an 87 was junior Paige Smith. Overall the Flyers shot a 332 as a team, 32 strokes behind the team leader, UNC Wilmington. The second round will take place on Saturday, April 18 from the Callaway Gardens course in Pine Mountain, Ga. Fans will be able to follow the tournament with live scoring at Golfstat.com. |
