The Dayton Flyers look to close spring season with a flourish as UD heads to the 2009 Colonial Athletic Association Women's Golf Championship.

UD will participate in a three-day, three-round event beginning Friday, April 17 from the Callaway Gardens course in Pine Mountain, Ga. Fans will be able to follow the tournament with live scoring at Golfstat.com.

Last year UD placed in ninth as sophomore Julie Pouliquen led the Flyers. She finished tied for 29th and completed the tournament with rounds of 80, 78 and 82.

Junior Katie Gallagher wasn't far behind after shooting a third round 83. She completed the championship with a 241 total after tallying a 78 and 80 in the first two rounds.

Fast forward to this season where junior Katie Dempsey leads UD in stroke average at 82.4 with Pouliquen is close behind at 82.9.

In CAA Championship history, Gallagher, Pouliquen and Dempsey are the only Flyers who have played in this tournament before. Gallagher and Dempsey also are the only two UD players to have competed in this event in the previous two years as well.

Freshman Clara Ang has enjoyed a solid spring campaign. Through seven rounds in the spring, Ang has lowered her stroke average by two between the fall and spring seasons.

Throughout the 2008-09 campaign, Dayton has played consistently between the fall and spring seasons. As a team, UD had a 331.00 stroke average during the fall. In the spring the team's stroke average is slightly higher at 331.86.

This will be the seventh season the Flyers have participated in the CAA Tournament. UD's best showing came back in the 2004 spring campaign when Dayton placed fifth overall.

Other programs participating in the 2009 CAA Tournament include Georgia State, Hofstra, James Madison, UNC Wilmington, Old Dominion, Richmond, Towson, William & Mary and Xavier.
