DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton women's soccer team pulled out its second straight tie in a 1-1 draw with Saint Louis on Friday night at Baujan Field. The Flyers move to 11-3-2 overall and 5-1-2 in the Atlantic 10 Conference with the tie. Not even two minutes into play Saint Louis' leading scorer Cassi Winchell took a miscleared ball by the Flyer defense and chipped it over UD goalkeeper Niki Reed for her fifth goal of the season and the first of the game. Dayton bounced back in the 32nd minute on a long distance blast from sophomore Colleen Gibson. Gibson dribbled past a SLU defender and sent a booming shot from 30-yards out into the upper left corner of the net to even the score at one apiece. UD had a chance to claim a victory in double-overtime when senior Courtney Sirmans sent in a bending freekick just inside the post, but Billikens' goalkeeper Hannah Koesterer got a hand on it denying the goal. Koesterer finished the match with nine saves as Reed posted seven of her own for UD. Dayton out-shot Saint Louis 23-17 as the Flyers run their unbeaten streak to six straight games. SLU is now unbeaten in its last seven games. With a Charlotte win over Xavier earlier Friday evening, the Flyers fall into a tie for second place with Saint Louis in the A-10 standings, just two points behind the 49ers. Dayton returns to action Sunday, October 21 for Senior Day. The Flyers will close out the home portion of the season at 1 p.m. ET versus Charlotte.
