Freshman Kelly Blumenschein recorded Dayton's lone goal versus Toledo last weekend

April 11, 2008

DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton women's soccer team will close out the spring season this evening with a match-up versus Ohio State. The Flyers and the Buckeyes are set to face off on Baujan Field at 7:30 p.m. ET.

The Flyers are coming of a two-game losing skid as UD was downed by Louisville on the road, 1-0 and picked up a loss versus Toledo, 2-1 last weekend. So far this season, UD is 1-3-2 in exhibition play, with the team's lone win coming verus Loyola-Chicago (4-0) on Feb. 23.

Ohio State posted its first win of the spring season at home versus Cincinnati, blanking the Bearcats 2-0 on April 6.

Dayton's team finished 2007 with a 13-4-4 record and went 6-2-3 in the Atlantic 10. The Flyers secured a fifth place finish in the league, ending the year in dramatic fashion losing to the Fordham Rams on a penalty kick shootout (4-3) in the semifinal round of the A-10 Championship. Although Dayton loses eight seniors, among their returnees is A-10 Offensive Player of the Year Mandi Bäck.
