DAYTON, Ohio - Sophomore midfielder Mandi Bäck and freshman defender Kelly Blumenschein were selected by Soccer Buzz Magazine as members of the All-Great Lakes Regional team for their efforts during the 2007 women's soccer season. Bäck earned All-Region Second Team honors, while Blumenshein was named to the All-Region Freshman Team. Bäck, who was recently named to the NSCAA/adidas All-Great Lakes Regional Third team earlier in the month, led the Flyers in scoring for the second straight year in 2007. The North Olmstead, Ohio native earned the Atlantic 10's Offensive Player of the Year leading the conference in shots, points, goals, and game-winners this year. She finished the season with a team-high 14 goals including five game-winners. Blumenschein, a freshman from Beavercreek, Ohio, made an impressive debut for the Flyers during the season. She started in all but one game for UD tallying two goals and three assists, all of which came during conference play. The rookie Flyer had a game-winner in the game versus Oakland on September 23. Fifty-five schools in the Great Lakes Region were eligible for the awards. The selection process was based on a nominations open to all Division I coaches and balloting results of a voting panel of selected Division I head coaches and Soccer Buzz staff. |
