DAYTON, Ohio -

The University of Dayton Flyers split with the IUPUI Jaguars on Monday at the UD Softball Complex. Dayton lost its first game 3-1 before routing the Jaguars in six innings 10-1 in game two.

"We did a much better job of offensive execution in our second game," coach Cara Clark said. "We had much better at-bats."

Anne Maci had a huge day at the plate hitting two home runs and five RBI's. Maci completed the day 3-for-6 between both games and also collected a double in the contest.

"Anne stepped in and had a big game for us today," Clark said. "She was really the spark for our offense in the second game."

Eva Rappe pitched a complete game in the win over the Jaguars in the second game collecting a 1.17 ERA and striking out one batter.

"Eva pitched a great game," said Clark. "She did a good job of keeping batters off-balance all day."

Dayton got off to an early start at the hands of Maci's first home run of the season. Maci crushed a long ball over the wall to drive home Blair Crabtree for the first two tallies of the game.

IUPUI responded with a double to drive home a runner, but the Flyers continued to pour it on in the second inning. Crabtree ripped a huge double to drive home Molly Meyer and Mollie Schrank, giving the Flyers a 3-1 advantage. Maci continued her big hits with a double to bring Crabtree home again.

The Jaguars were finally able to stop Dayton's surge but not before Allie Falk drove in one more run for UD.

The offensive surge by the Flyers in the second inning took the wind out of IUPUI's sails with Eva Rappe and the outstanding Flyer defense holding them scoreless throughout the rest of the game.

The Flyers added four more runs in the top of the sixth to seal the fate for the Jaguars in a 10-1 trouncing.

Dayton dropped their first game of the series earlier in the day 3-1, with Erin Lafayette collecting the loss.

The Flyers are back in action on Tuesday against the IPFW Mastodons at UD Softball Complex at 3:00 p.m. For all of the latest information and statistics visit www.DaytonFlyers.com
