DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton Flyers split once again, this time to La Salle at UD Softball Stadium on Sunday. In the first game, the Flyers scored seven runs to knock off the Explorers 7-4. UD dropped game two 7-1. Dayton was led behind a three run homer by senior Blair Crabtree. In the game, Crabtree knocked her fifth home run of the season. Crabtree is now tied for third in UD history with 11 in her career. Erin LaFayette picked up her eighth win of the season striking out five batters. With the win LaFayette is now 8-8 this season. UD trailed early in the contest after allowing two runs in the top of the inning. Dayton immediately righted the ship in large part to Laura Matthews' triple to drive home Molly Meyer. Lyndsi Gocken got things started for Dayton in the second inning batting home LaFayette. Crabtree then smacked a three run homer to extend UD's lead 6-2. La Salle attempted to make a comeback loading the bases in the final inning, but the Flyers forced a ground out to end the game and seal LaFayette's victory. Dayton's bats quieted in the second game with the Flyers only earning two hits. The Flyers were held scoreless until the sixth inning when Megan Lee scored for the Flyers. UD is back in action on Tuesday in Terre Haute, Indiana against Indiana State. Opening pitch is slated for 4:00 p.m. ET. For the latest on the Flyers visit www. DaytonFlyers.com |
