Mollie Schrank was 3-of-5 and had one sacrifice in the game

TOLEDO, Ohio - The University Of Dayton Flyers were swept in mid-week action by the Toledo Rockets on Wednesday dropping the first game 13-5 and 12-3 in the second game.

Mollie Schrank was 3-of -5 in the series with one run batted in, one run and one sacrifice. She was complemented by shortstop Emily Stegeman who went 3-of-6 in the series with two RBI's and one run.

Erin Lafayette moves to 9-11 this season after allowing 11 runs in 2.2 innings. LaFayette struck out one batter and walked two in the loss. Allie Falk picked up her first loss of the season after striking out one and allowing five runs.

The Flyers got off to an early 4-0 lead at Scott Park in Toledo. Laura Matthews drove home Molly Meyer on a base hit down to left centerfield. Stegeman's hit later in the inning drove home Matthews and Anne Maci. Falk's single later in the inning put Dayton ahead by four in the first inning.

Toledo was held to only one run for the first two innings before scoring 12 runs in the third inning. Dayton would add one more run in the fourth before losing 13-5.

In the second game of the series the Rockets got on the board early with a seven run first inning. The Flyers tried to claw their way back in part to Megan Lee's single to open up the scoring for UD. Maci then added one more run scoring on a passed ball.

Dayton added one more run in the 12-3 loss to the Rockets.

With the pair of losses Dayton is now 18-23 this season. UD travels to the east coast to face A-10 foes Rhode Island and Massachusetts in weekend action. For the latest on the Flyer softball visit www.DaytonFlyers.com
