DAYTON, Ohio - Costly errors plagued the Flyers as they were swept in a doubleheader with backyard rival Wright State at UD Softball Stadium on Tuesday, 7-0 and 8-0. Emily Stegeman hit .400 on Tuesday with a pair of hits in the series. Stegeman also collected seven outs and three assists in the game. The two losses were split between Erin Lafayette and Eva Rappe. LaFayette combined for five strikeouts and two walks through six innings, while Rappe picked up one strikeout and four walks in four innings pitched. Wright State kicked things off after three scoreless innings. The Raiders hit three home runs in a row to give them the early 3-0 lead over the Flyers. WSU added another run in the inning on a walk and followed it up with a sacrifice fly to centerfield to score the fifth run. The Raiders added to their lead with two more runs in the sixth before Dayton challenged in the bottom half of the sixth. Erin Lafayette and Katie Jordan singled to open the inning up for UD. Wright State, however, shut down the top of the order sitting the next three down in order to end the Flyers chances. In the second game a pair of four run innings plagued the Flyers chances. Wright State sprung ahead in the second inning on a costly error that put Bri Birl on base allowing a three run homer by Jamie Perkins. The Raiders added four more in the sixth inning to cap off the series as the Flyers fell 8-0 in six innings. Dayton will remain at home for the remainder of their season as they play host to St. Bonaventure on Saturday at UD Softball Stadium. Opening pitch is scheduled for noon and will be a doubleheader.
