WOMEN'S TENNIS WINS HOME FINALE OVER OAKLAND, 6-1



Senior Megan Gray won at No. 3 singles and No. 1 doubles on Saturday

Results

The women's tennis team topped Oakland University in its final home match of the season on Saturday, 6-1. Senior Megan Gray, sophomore Molly Mathews and freshman Laina Grote all tallied two victories as UD improved its spring record to 7-13.

Dayton won two doubles matches to take an early 1-0 lead. Gray and senior Allysa Detroy were victorious at No. 1 doubles with an 8-6 win over Lindsay Grimmer and Michelle Maxfield. At No. 3, Grote and Mathews beat Lisa Lulgjuraj and Jackie Dinicu 8-4.

The Flyers got another point when Maxfield retired early in her singles match against Gray at No. 3.

The Flyers won four other singles matches, including two in straight sets by freshman Chelsea Glankler at No. 4 and junior Nikki Dzubay at No. 5.

Grote and Mathews each needed three sets to outlast their opponents at No. 2 and No. 6 singles, respectively.

Dayton plays its final regular season match on Sunday at Xavier at noon.
