River Forest, IL - The Dominican University men's tennis team improved to 2-3 overall and 2-1 in the Northern Athletics Conference with a 7-2 win over Rockford College on Wednesday afternoon.

The Stars took a 2-1 advantage into singles play after claiming victories at numbers one and three doubles. Freshman Andrew Vatterott (St. Louis, MO) and sophomore Zlatan Hodzic improved to 3-2 overall and remained unbeaten in NAC play as the Stars number one doubles team, knocking off their Rockford opponents 8-1.

Vatterott and Hodzic each picked up wins in singles play as well with Vatterott defeating Rockford's number one singles competitor 6-2, 6-2 and Hodzic picking up a win at the four singles flight, leading 6-1, 2-0 before being named the winner by default due to an injury to Rockford's number four.

Dominican's Frank Napolitano (Elmhurst, IL), Matt Sarantopoulos (Mt. Prospect, IL) and Louis Hernandez (Green Bay, WI) were all victorious in their respective singles flights. Napolitano knocked off Rockford's number three singles competitor 6-2, 6-3 while Sarantopoulos cruised to a victory at the number five singles flight 6-3, 6-0. Hernandez was a default winner as the Stars' number six singles competitor.

The Stars will play four matches this weekend. On Saturday, Dominican travels to Marian College and Loras College and then travels to Dubuque, Iowa to take on University of Dubuque and Clarke College on Sunday.
