Men's Tennis Wraps Up Season With Fourth Place Finish At NAC Championships



Zlatan Hodzic finished second as the Stars' number four singles competitor at the 2008 NAC Men's Tennis Championship.

River Forest, IL - The Dominican University men's tennis team entered the 2008 season picked to finish seventh in the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) out of eight teams in the conference's preseason coaches' poll. However, the Stars turned a lot of heads finishing the conference season with a 4-3 record in NAC play and then placing fourth at the NAC Men's Tennis Championship that took place on Saturday and Sunday, April 26 and 27.

Sophomore Zlatan Hodzic (Chicago, IL) and freshman Matt Sarantopoulos (Mt. Prospect, IL) turned in the Stars top individual performances placing second as the Stars' number four and five singles competitors respectively. Freshman Andrew Vatterott (St. Louis, MO), the Stars' number one singles competitor, along with senior Frank Napolitano (Elmhurst, IL), number three singles, and sophomore Luis Hernandez (Green Bay, WI), number six singles, all placed fourth at their respective flights.

In doubles competition, the Stars' number two doubles team of Sarantopoulos and fellow freshman Emmanuel Rabaya (Glendale Heights, IL) turned in the Stars best finish, placing third.

Last year the Stars placed sixth at the conference championship, placing no singles competitor or doubles team higher than third place.
