McNish Named Atlantic 10 Student-Athlete of the Year

PHILADELPHIA - Junior Kat McNish was named the 2008 Atlantic 10 Student-Athlete of the Year in voting by the conference's sports information directors.
McNish, who has a 3.59 grade point average, became the Dukes all-time assist leader this season. In addition, she earned first-team All-Conference honors for the second straight year while leading the A-10 in assists with 42 and is fourth in points per game with 4.42.
McNish was joined on the first team by Tiny Harris. Harris, one of the best defensive players in the program's history, is tied for second on the Dukes with 24 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers.
Ashley Wood and Shannon Hadaway were named All-Conference second team. Wood, who has a team-best 36 goals, ranks eighth in the conference with 2.25 goals per game. Hadaway, a transfer from Ohio University, had a career-high 26 goals this season.
Liz Fey, Courtney Lambert and Liz Walker were named to the All-Conference rookie team. Fey led all DU rookies with 17 goals and had a .500 shooting percentage. Lambert started 11 games and picked up nine ground balls and had four draw controls. Walker, the A-10 rookie of the week Mar. 10 and Mar. 17 had a goals against average of 9.18 while making 55 saves.
Janna Faulkner, along with McNish was named to the All-Academic team. Faulkner, who is tied for third on the Dukes with 26 goals, has a 3.92 GPA.

The Dukes (8-8, 5-2) will take on Temple tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 p.m. in the semifinal round of the Atlantic 10 Championship in Amherst, Mass.
