Rowers Scrimmage at Dayton

DAYTON - The Duquesne rowing team had a scrimmage race this weekend on the Eastwood Lake in Dayton, Ohio against the University of Dayton and West Virginia.

The race got off to a late start because of heavy fog. But once the race began, the varsity 8+ clocked in at 6:52.8.

The lightweight 8+ had the largest margin of victory of any race, 30 seconds, as they finished in 7:00.8 against the Flyers. The novice 4a also had a first place finish with a time of 8:00.5.

The 2nd varsity 8+ entered two boats that finished second and third with times of 7:07.0 and 7:17.8 respectively. The varsity 4 also entered a pair of boats that finished second (7:55.5 ) and third (8:19.1). The frost/novice 8+ had a second place boat that finished in 7:14.8 and a fourth place boat that crossed in 7:47.4.

The novice 4b had a time of 8:53.0.

The Dukes will travel to Camden, N.J. for the Knecht Cup this weekend.
