Women's Tennis Rolls George Washington 6-1

MONROEVILLE - The Duquesne women's tennis team opened its Atlantic 10 schedule with a 6-1 win over George Washington Friday afternoon.

The Dukes took the double point by taking two of the three matches. Johanna Bezjak and Rachel McGowan were 8-3 winners at first doubles and Zena Williams and Rebecca Poole took second doubles 8-4.

Duquesne won five of the six singles matches. Zena Williams was a 6-0, 6-2 winner at No. 1 singles. Johanna Bezjak won No. 2 singles after her 6-3, 6-1 victory. Rachel McGowan held off GW's Jennifer Hirsh 6-4, 7-5 at the No. 3 spot.

At No. 4 singles, Rebecca Poole was a 7-5, 6-3 winner and Andrea Sailer won her match at No. 5 singles 6-2, 6-4.

The Dukes return to the Club 4 Life in Monroeville on Friday as they take on St. Bonaventure. Match time is 3:00 p.m.
