April 13, 2008

Final Stats

ELIZABETH CITY, NC- Anthony Archie hit a grand slam in the bottom of the sixth inning to secure a 14-9 win for Elizabeth City State over Saint Augustine's College Saturday afternoon at Holmes Field.

Prior to the bases being loaded Troy Andrews broke the 9-9 tie with a solo shot for his first home run of the season.

Archie finished the day with two homers in four appearances. His first came in the fifth inning as the second half of back-to back long balls with the first courtesy of a two run homer by Stephen Green which put the Vikings in front 9-3. The Falcons then reeled of a six run inning in their half of the sixth before the heroics of Andrews and Archie.

Marcus Richards (3-4) picked up the win for ECSU with the save going to Khatim Butler, his third of the year.

Game two was halted in the second inning due to rain and was ruled a no contest.

The Vikings (18-12, CIAA 5-4) will hit the road to complete the season series with the Falcons on Monday, April 14 in Raleigh. The doubleheader is slated for 1:00pm. For more information on ECSU Athletics, visit www.ecsuvikings.com.
