Final Stats

FAYETTEVILLE, NC- The Fayetteville State University Lady Broncos handed Elizabeth City State University a 86-76 loss Thursday evening at Felton J. Capel Arena.

In a tightly contested game the Lady Broncos took advantage of 20 second half ECSU turnovers of which they converted into 19 points to pull away late. With 4:08 remaining and the score 77-72 in favor of the home team, FSU used a 9-2 run over the next three minutes to take their largest lead of eleven points (85-74) to close out the game.

The Lady Vikings and Lady Broncos played the first half to a 43-43 tie at the intermission. FSU then went on to outscore ECSU 43-33 in the second period.

The Lady Broncos (13-7, CIAA 9-2) placed four in double figures with Shacovia Sheppard leading the way with 22 points. Celeste Trahan led all scorers with 31 points though she fell short of another double-double with 8 rebounds. Cheniece Arthur netted 12 points in the loss.

ECSU (9-11, CIAA 2-9) will return to action on Saturday, February 2 as they travel to Raleigh, NC to face Shaw University. Game time is slated for 5:30pm at Spaulding Gymnasium. For more information on ECSU Athletics, visit www.ecsuvikings.com.
