Feb. 9, 2008

Final Stats

ELIZABETH CITY, NC- The Elizabeth City State Lady Vikings came from behind to earn a 64-57 win over Saint Paul's College Saturday night at the R.L. Vaughan Center.

After trailing 32-24 at the intermission the Lady Vikings outscored the Lady Tigers 40-25 in the second half for the seven point victory. A 7-0 run capped by a Joyce Freeman three-pointer with 5:33 to go tied the game a 50 apiece. After the two teams traded baskets over the next couple of possessions the Lady Vikings went ahead for good after a made free throw and back-to back buckets by Celeste Trahan. ECSU did the rest of their scoring via the charity stripe while the Lady Tigers (9-12, CIAA 4-10) went scoreless from the floor for the four remaining minutes in regulation, sans a three-pointer by Juantale Cook with 6 seconds left. Cook finished the game with 11 points while Katrina Wright and Tatiana Ellis each score 12 points in the loss.

Celeste Trahan tallied her 83rd career double-double with game highs of 20 points and 16 rebounds. April Whitaker added 14 points while Joyce Freeman chipped in with 10 points.

The Lady Vikings (11-12, CIAA 4-10) will return to action on February 14 as they host Saint Augustine's College. Game time is slated for 5:30pm at the R.L. Vaughan Center. For more information on ECSU Athletics, visit www.ecsuvikings.com.
