DUDLEY, Mass. - The 17th-ranked Endicott College men's lacrosse team brought its two-game losing streak to a skidding halt, dominating Nichols College, 21-1, in a The Commonwealth Coast Conference match-up on Tuesday night in Dudley, Massachusetts. Endicott improves to 6-2 overall and 2-0 in the conference while the Bison are still in search of their first win, dropping to 0-7 overall and 0-3 in TCCC action.
Junior Nick Cosco (Londonderry, N.H.) scored five goals and added two assists, while classmate Brandon Dube (Danvers, Mass.) posted four goals and five assists for his second nine-point game of the season.
A goal by Nichols' junior Peter Cramer (Hanover, Mass.) at the 4:58 mark of the first period made it a 3-1 contest but after that it was all Endicott as it went on to score 18 unanswered goals. The Gulls out-shot the Bison 56-17 on the night and picked up 52 ground balls to Nichols 25. Endicott was also dominant on face-offs, earning 24 wins on 26 attempts as senior John Ortolani (Billerica, Mass.) went 18-19. The Gulls also went five-for-seven on extra-man opportunities.
Junior Eddie O'Rielly (Beverly, Mass.) registered three goals for Endicott along with one assist while sophomore Andrew Harding (Niskayuna, N.Y.) chipped in with two goals. Seven other Gulls scored while four others earned assists.
In net, freshman Austin Healy (Westford, Mass.) recorded nine saves in the first half for the hosts, while fellow freshman Justin Berrett (Plymouth, Minn.) made nine stops as well in the second frame. Endicott used three goalkeepers who combined for five saves in the win.
After a four-game stint at home, Nichols will now play its next two games on the road, starting Thursday at Clark. The Bison will return to The Commonwealth Coast Conference action on Saturday at Salve Regina. Endicott will host TCCC and North Shore rival Gordon on Saturday afternoon at 12:00 p.m.
