Raleigh, NC - Fayetteville State remains in the win column with a 62-59 nail-bitter over host Shaw University. Andy Gebru popped 23 points to lead the game while the Broncos secured another game with seven seconds remaining on the clock. Gebru, a non-starter, helped the bench outscore Shaw's 32-7. Shaw created its largest lead of the game, of 11 points, in the first half at 9:13. The Broncos turned to the bench for Andy Gebru, who hit five consecutive three-pointers to bring FSU to an even halftime score of 30-30. In the second half, the Bears excelled with an 8-0 scoring run until the Broncos tied the game 54-54 at the 3:58 mark. With fifty-six seconds remaining in the game, Derek Holmes broke the tie with FSU's last field goal of the game. The Bears were within one (57-58) with 18 seconds left but the Broncos made four of four free throws while Holmes stole the ball with two seconds remaining to secure the victory. Phillippe Harris and Derek Holmes both scored in double figures with 13 and 10 points respectfully. Jamel Austin accumulated double digits in assists with 10.
