Excerpt from St. Andrews Presbyterian College (Kevin Buczek) Vass, NC - Coker College rallied from a five-stroke overnight deficit by shooting the only sub-300 18-hole total on Tuesday to win the team title at the 2008 St. Andrews Spring Invitational at Woodlake Resort & Golf Club on Monday and Tuesday, March 3-4. Senior Ian Milne of Fayetteville State University won the individual medalist title by shooting two-day total of one-under par 143. Coker trailed Fayetteville State by five strokes heading into the final round but the Cobras shot an impressive eight-over 296 in Tuesday's wet and windy conditions to edge the Broncos by one stroke. Coker takes home the first place trophy with a total of 313-296=609, while Fayetteville State takes home the runner-up hardware with a 308-302=610. Milne held a three-stroke lead after Monday's opening round with an even par 72 on the 6,954-yard, par-72 Maples Layout at the Woodlake Resort. Milne increased his final margin of victory to four strokes by firing the only round under par out of 94 total scorecards turned in by the men. Milne's 71 in the final round gave him a 36-hole total of 143. The Fayetteville State men's golf team next competes in the 11th Annual CIAA Western Division Tournament on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, March 9-11 at the Charles T. Myers Golf Club in Charlotte, North Carolina.
