FAU Football Friday Practice Report
Aug. 8, 2008
BOCA RATON, FL Florida Atlantic University's football team took the field in shoulder pads and shorts after a brief thunderstorm delay. It was the first day of shoulder pads and contact drills for the Owls this fall. The practice lasted just over two hours and progressed from contact drills to 7 on 7 drills and finally gassers, or windsprints. Senior receiver Chad Wilkes caught an accurate long pass from quarterback Rusty Smith. Redshirt freshman receiver Darian Williams continued to impress after another productive day. The defensive line proved extremely physical during contact drills and carried that aggression to 7 on 7 drills by causing several sacks. FAU will conduct their fourth practice of the fall on Saturday. After two more two and half hour practices over the weekend, FAU will have the first three-a-day practice on Monday.
The FAU National Alumni Association and Alberto Dosal ('73) invite you to an inside look at the 2008 football season and the opening game against the University of Texas Longhorns. FAU Head Coach Howard Schnellenberger and the 2007 Sun Belt Championship Team will be the event's special guest. The reception is scheduled for Tuesday, August 12 at 5:30 p.m. and will be held at Compuquip Technologies, 8399 NW 30th Terrace, Doral, FL 33122. Please RSVP to Lee Collier ('99, '08) at 561-297-3011 or lcollier@fau.edu.
