Women's Tennis Earns First Win

The Florida Atlantic University women's tennis team picked up its first win of the season on Monday as it defeated George Washington University 5-2 in Boca Raton. The Owls won all three doubles matches and took four singles matches to win the first of five matches this week for FAU. In singles play, Elodie Wendling, Virginia Augustin and Pia Terol all picked up quick victories in two sets. Wendling won at the no. 2 spot, 6-1, 6-1 over Tracy Stecko and Virginia Ausgustin took out GW's Madhuri Jha 6-1, 6-0. Playing at no. 6, Pia Terol defeated Michele Style 6-3, 6-2. Senior Claudia Kecht went to a third-set tiebreaker to pick up her singles win over Jennifer Hirsh 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-6). The Owls will play again on Tuesday against conference foe North Texas before squaring off against Towson, Columbia and Dartmouth later this week. Florida Atlantic University 5, George Washington 2
