FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State Bulldog football team, winners of the 2007 Roady's Humanitarian Bowl, used their appearance in a pre-bowl game bowling event to benefit the Fresno Poverello House and its clients.

On Wednesday, Fresno State Coach Pat Hill and Bulldog quarterback Ryan Colburn joined T.J. Leonard and Joe Lynch of SYSCO Food Services of Central California Inc., to present the Poverello House with a donation of 402 pounds of Certified Angus Beef ® brand Holten burgers. That equates to more than 1,500 burgers.

The team won the beef by scoring 201 points in the Certified Angus Beef ® Bowl for Beef, which pitted Fresno State players against the Georgia Tech team. For each pin knocked down, players earned a two-pound beef donation to a hometown charity of their choice. Fresno State selected Poverello House as its recipient, and SYSCO Food Services of Central California, Holten Meat Inc. and Certified Angus Beef LLC teamed up to facilitate the donation. Food Services of America-Boise organized the bowling event as part of its sponsorship of 2007 Roady's Humanitarian Bowl activities.

"We had a great experience in Boise," said Hill. "It was a great win for our program and will put us in great shape as we head into the 2008 season. A big part of Bulldog football is serving our community, the Central Valley. Being able to provide beef to the Poverello House as part of our participation in the bowl game is a big-time bonus. The Bulldog football program will continue to be a community leader and we enjoy participating in events that benefit Valley residents."

Roady's Humanitarian Bowl, a post-season college Football Bowl Association game, matches a team from the Western Athletic Conference with a team from the Atlantic Coast Conference. It is played annually at the 30,000-seat Bronco Stadium on the campus of Boise State University in Boise, Idaho. The game was inspired by the World Sports Humanitarian Hall of Fame, www.sportshumanitarian.com, located on the Boise State campus, which recognizes individuals and organizations from the world of amateur and professional athletics who distinguish themselves as role models through their humanitarian efforts.
