Women's Basketball Defeats Bryn Mawr

LANCASTER, Pa. - Nine different players scored, while Miriam Marcis and Cara Landolfi registered 12 and 10 points, respectively, to lead Franklin & Marshall over Bryn Mawr 58-37 in Centennial Conference (CC) women's basketball action on Wednesday night. The Diplomats (12-5, 7-3 CC) held the Owls (1-15, 1-11 CC) to just 26.9 percent shooting from the floor, while taking a 35-17 halftime lead and never looking back for their seventh conference win. Jessica Allen recorded the game's lone double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds for Bryn Mawr. A three-pointer by Katie Driscoll put the Owls within one at 8-7 with 14:58 left in the opening stanza, but F&M went on a 25-10 run to close out the half with a 35-17 advantage. Landolfi tallied all of her points in the first half, going 6-for-6 from the free-throw line. The Diplomats never backed down, making it a 20-point game on a Marcis jumper at the 15:40 mark of the second half. Sara Wolman, who finished with five points, gave F&M its biggest lead of the night with a jumper for the 50-26 advantage. Brittany Braxton was one point shy of a double-double, recording 10 boards and nine points for the Diplomats. F&M returns to action on Saturday against Swarthmore. Game time is 6 p.m. |
