Women's Track Finishes Fourth at Emory Invite

ATLANTA, Ga. - The Furman women's track and field team earned a fourth-place team finish at the Emory Asics Classic in Atlanta, Ga. on Saturday.

The Paladin women recorded 14 top-10 finishes, including four individual victories. Sophomore Brittany Johnson won the 5,000 meter event with a time of 17:19.03. Senior Whitney Jones was tops in the 100 meter hurdle event, with a 15.74 time in the finals. Fellow senior Chibuzo Aguocha finished first in both the long jump and triple jump events, with marks of 5.45 meters and 11.42 meters, respectively.

For the men, junior Alex Plasencia earned a first-place finish in the 10,000 meter event with a time of 32:26.65. The men's team racked up a total six top-ten finishes en route to a 10th-place team finish.

The track teams will return to action on April 5 with a trip to California to compete in the Stanford Invitational.
