#64 Men's Tennis Falls to #24 Tennessee

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The men's tennis team fell to #24 Tennessee, 7-0, in its season opener on Thursday evening at the Goodfriend Indoor Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Tennessee. The Paladins fell to 0-1 on the season, while the Vols improved to 1-0.

Furman struggled at the start, losing doubles matches at number one and two to allow Tennessee to clinch the first point of the match. In the number three spot, Jason Basile and Daniel Knause defeated Jeremy Tweedt and Matt Brewer 8-6.

While the singles matches were competitive, Furman was unable to post a win. In the closest matches, junior Andy Juc was defeated by Kaden Hensel 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (10-5), while senior Mike Kociecki was defeated 7-5, 6-1, 1-0 (10-5).

Furman will continue play Saturday, Jan. 26 with a match at Florida State, scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
