ATHENS, Ga. - The No. 3-ranked University of Georgia men's tennis team extended its home winning streak to 37 matches Sunday with a 6-1 win over Furman.

Georgia won a hard-fought doubles point to open the match with a 1-0 lead. The first tandem to finish was the 32nd-ranked duo of Jamie Hunt and Nate Schnugg, who dispatched Andrei Chvetsov and Chris Rhyne, 8-3. Furman then pulled even with a win in the second spot as Andy Juc and former Bulldog Chris Motes teamed up to defeat Christian Vitulli and Javier Garrapiz, 8-2.

After the two teams split the matches at the first and second spots, Josh Varela and Drake Bernstein held a 7-6 lead over Daniel Knause and Jason Basile in the third slot, then broke the Paladins' serve to win 8-6 and grab the doubles point for Georgia.

In singles play, Bernstein defeated Sawyer Duncan 6-2, 6-0 in the no. five spot. Garrapiz then took down Motes, 6-2, 6-3, to give Georgia a 3-0 match advantage. Shortly after, Hunt came up with the match-clinching victory, winning over Knause 6-3, 6-1, at the third singles position.

With Georgia already having won the match, the remaining three singles contests all split sets and went to 10-point super-tiebreakers. Mike Kociecki put Furman on the scoreboard with a 6-4, 6-7(7), 10-7 victory over UGA sophomore Alex Hill.

With the win, Georgia improves to 7-1 on the season, while Furman falls to 1-5. The Paladins will take the court again on Monday, Feb. 25 as they travel to Stetson.
