The Furman men's tennis team fell 4-1 to #24 Oklahoma State in the opening round of the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic Thursday in Montgomery, Ala.
Oklahoma State won the doubles point by winning all three matches. The Cowboys earned two quick victories in the top two singles spots, with 13th ranked Oleksandr Nedovyesov defeating Bo Ladyman 6-3, 6-4 and 38th ranked Ivan Puchkarov topping Daniel Knause 6-1, 6-1.
Sophomore Jordan Walters earned the Paladins' only point of the match with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Mark Kepler in the number four spot. The Cowboys' Dmytro Petrov clinched the win for Oklahoma State with a 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 victory over Chris Motes.
With the win, Oklahoma State improves to 6-4 on the season. Furman falls to 3-8 and will face Brown on Friday to continue play in the Blue Gray Classic.
