Men's Tennis Falls to #64 Wisconsin

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Furman men's tennis team fell 4-0 to #64 Wisconsin in the final round of the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic on Saturday.

The Paladin duo of Andy Juc and Chris Motes started off doubles play with a big 8-2 win over the 37th-ranked team of Luke Rassow-Kantor and Jeremy Sonkin. However, the Badgers regrouped to win the doubles point with victories at the number one and number three spots. At the top spot, the team of Nolan Polley and Moritz Baumann topped Chris Rhyne and Andrei Chvetsov by a score of 8-4, while Felipe Bellido and Marek Michalicka defeated Bo Ladymand and Sawyer Duncan 8-6.

In singles play, Wisconsin clinched the match with three straight wins. Jeremy Sonkin topped Chris Motes 6-2, 7-6 at number four singles, Polley defeated Daniel Knause 6-3, 6-4 at number three singles, and Baumann finished the match for the Badgers with a close 6-4, 1-6, 6-0 win over Andy Juc.

With the loss, Furman falls to 4-10 on the season. The Paladins will take the court again on March 19 with a trip to Charlotte.
