SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Furman's Jordan Walters was named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week. A standout on Furman's tennis team, Walters has a 3.8 grade point average.

Walters, a sophomore from Augusta, Ga., was 3-0 at No. 5 singles last week. He defeated Martin King of The Citadel, 6-0, 6-3, Ross Myer of College of Charleston, 6-0, 6-3, and Hasan Hamadeh of Chattanooga, 6-2, 6-0.

Walters teamed with Bo Ladyman at No. 2 doubles to defeat conference opponents College of Charleston and Chattanooga.

Walters was named Southern Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week. He helped the Paladins stay atop the conference standings with a 3-0 record last week.
