The Furman Lady Paladins will face the College of Charleston Saturday in a 3:00 matchup as part of the Southern Conference's "Think Pink" day. The "Think Pink" initiative will help raise awareness of breast cancer treatment, prevention and research.
Furman holds a 21-9 advantage in the overall series against the College of Charleston. The two teams met earlier this season in Southern Conference play. Jill Furstenburg scored 21 points, just one below her career-high, while Nikki Williams posted her second straight double-double to lead the College of Charleston team to the 56-40 win over the Lady Paladins.
Furman is coming off a 83-44 victory over Wofford, the team's largest winning margin of the season. Junior Melissa Liebschwager scored a career-high 22 points in the win.
College of Charleston is currently 11-10 overall and 7-4 in the Southern Conference. They have two recent wins over Elon (56-53) and UNC Greensboro (65-61). Junior Jill Furstenburg leads the Cougars, averaging 12.4 points per game.
The game will be played in Timmons Arena with a starting time of 3:00 p.m. All fans wearing pink will receive free admission to the game and are encouraged to donate to the American Cancer Society to help meet the Lady Paladins' goal of $10,000.
