Furman Hosts Georgia Southern Monday

GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Furman Lady Paladin basketball team will host Georgia Southern Monday, looking for their third straight Southern Conference victory.

The Lady Eagles lead the overall series 22-17. The two teams met earlier this season in Statesboro, when Shawnda Atwood scored 17 total points to lift the Lady Eagles to a 59-53 win over the Lady Paladins in SoCon basketball action. Junior Sarah Baker led the Lady Paladins with 13 total points, one shy of her season high. Melissa Liebschwager, Kali Holtfreter, and Katie Agin each added eight points to the effort, with Holtfreter also leading the team in rebounds with seven.

Furman is coming off a 63-55 victory over the College of Charleston. Senior Chrissy Phelps scored 16 total points to lead the Lady Paladins, pushing her career total to over 1,000 points.

Georgia Southern is currently 14-9 overall and 10-2 in the Southern Conference. The Lady Eagles are currently holding a three-game win streak, with victories over UNC Greensboro, Elon, and Wofford.

The game will be played in Timmons Arena with an approximate tip-off time of 7:00 p.m.
