The Furman women's basketball team will travel to Elon Thursday to take on the Phoenix in one of their last regular season games of the 2007-08 season.
The overall series between Elon and Furman is tied, with each team holding five victories. Earlier this season, the Phoenix defeated Furman 54-48 in the Paladins' first conference game of the season.
Furman is coming off an upset of the number four ranked Davidson Wildcats 70-66 Monday night as the Paladins celebrated senior night at the team's final home game of the 2007-08 season. Chrissy Phelps and Melissa Liebschwager led the Paladins with 14 points apiece, while junior Katie Johnson contributed 11 to the winning effort. Liebschwager also led the team with 7 total rebounds. As a team, the Paladins shot 10-20 from beyond the arc, and 18-22 from the free throw line.
Elon is currently 9-19 on the season, 4-12 in the SoCon, and is ranked just below Furman in the conference standings. The Phoenix are coming off a 59-48 win over UNC Greensboro.
The game will be played in Alumni Gym on the campus of Elon University with an approximate tip-off time of 7:00 p.m.
