Greenville, S.C. -
Furman will host league leading Chattanooga in a three-game Southern Conference softball series beginning with a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday at Pepsi Stadium. The series finale is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Sunday.
The Paladins enter their final home SoCon series of the season with a 19-22 overall record and 7-5 mark in the conference. The Lady Mocs, winners of 15 of their last 16 games, are 31-15 overall and 9-1 in the SoCon.
After dropping two of three games to Appalachian State last weekend, Furman earned a doubleheader split with Georgia State on Wednesday as sophomore Lana Mackey tossed a five-hit shutout for her 14th victory of the season. Leadoff hitter Katie Michaels has sparked the Paladin attack hitting .464 over her last seven games while first baseman Brythe Blankenship has supplied the power inside league play hitting .368 with three doubles and two home runs versus league opposition.
Chattanooga, led by the 2007 SoCon Pitcher and Freshman of the Year Brooke Loudermilk, swept last season's three-game series from the Paladins and holds a 42-17 advantage in the all-time series with Furman.
Following the Chattanooga series, Furman will close out the 2008 home schedule with a 3 p.m. doubleheader against USC Upstate on Wednesday.
