The 66th-ranked women's tennis team secured the Southern Conference regular season title with an impressive 7-0 sweep of Davidson on Saturday.
The Paladins won all three doubles matches, with Furman winning by a score of 8-3 at both the number one and number two spots, and by a score of 8-6 at flight three.
In singles play, Laura Gioia and Monica Arguello won in straight sets in the top two spots. Senior Lauren Osborne came back to defeat Michele Fanney 2-6, 6-2, 6-3. Jessica Preeg won a close 7-6, 6-4 match over Kim Whelan in flight four, while Lauren Tomory topped Teresa Wang 4-6, 6-0, 10-8. Natasa Manojlovic completed the sweep with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Meredith Skeeters.
With the win, the Paladins improve to 16-5 overall and 9-0 in the Southern Conference, while Davidson falls to 17-5 and 7-2 in league play. The Paladins enter the Southern Conference tournament with the number one seed.
